Medical Expo 2014: Report

The 15th international Medical Expo was held from March 19 to 23 in Casablanca, Morocco.

The 2014 Medical Expo, held from March 19 to 23 at the Casablanca International Fair in Casablanca, Morocco, provided operators in the healthcare sector with an international platform to showcase their latest products and services. Medical Expo also hosted a series of educational conferences and roundtables to provide attendees with valuable insights into the latest developments in the industry.

The Medical Expo in Casablanca is an international trade show for the healthcare industry with a focus on medical technology, equipment and pharmaceuticals. The products on display at this year's event ranged from diagnostics tools and laboratory equipment to medical instruments, pharmaceuticals and scientific literature.

Morocco and other African countries have an enormous potential in the healthcare field, with the demographic boom, aging population and spread of diseases like diabetes. The continent is widely underprovided with medical care and opportunities for foreign investors are becoming more and more numerous. Morocco itself has a strong pharmaceutical industry and is classified as a European Zone by the World Health Organization (WHO) owing to the quality of its drug manufacturing. The country's pharmaceutical industry provides about 40,000 jobs, covers almost 65 percent of the country's need for pharmaceuticals, and exports nearly 7 percent of its production to other African countries as well as to Europe and Asia.

The Medical Expo 2014 provided healthcare professionals, manufacturers and distributors with an opportunity to learn more about the major brands and advanced technologies and equipment that are currently available on the market. Participants had the chance to purchase the latest innovative products at special prices, to meet with colleagues and potential partners, find new suppliers, share experiences, and discuss various medical practices.

The Kingdom of Morocco hosted the 7th edition of the Arab African Lounge: Health and Development in conjunction with Medical Expo. The exhibition focused on the topic of strengthening African Arab cooperation for the development of health and was held at the initiative of the Arab League and the Commission of the African Union to the Arab League. The event welcomed participants from 70 countries, aiming to develop collaboration between Arab and African states in the healthcare sector. It also provided Moroccan entrepreneurs and investors with an opportunity to find new partnership opportunities.

Medical Expo was organised by the Office of Fairs and Expositions of Casablanca and supported by the Ministry of Health and the French Ministry of Trade.
